Sandra Köstler is a visual artist working with photography, video and installation. Her research-based practice centers around the relations between humans and the environments they interact with. With a focus on individual perceptions and cultural influences, she explores social, emotional and ecological dimensions of the physical space that surrounds us. Moreover, she is interested in our mediated environments and uses artistic research to comprehend how images represent and shape the world.
In her work, Sandra draws on a wide range of influences from her background as a documentary photographer, researcher and media theorist. She received her PhD from Bielefeld University and is now involved in various interdisciplinary activities that combine artistic practice with research and education.
